Obama Rally held in Grant Park Chicago, IL on November 4, 2008.
It was a really great night. I can't describe how great everyone was, except for the one small story that sort of summed up what kind of mood everyone was in.
I had a ticket to the event. You were supposed to have ID to go along with your ticket to get in past the security check points. I lost my driver's license at the first check point. It fell out of my pocket when I grabbed the ticket in the rush to get through. When I went back to find it, the volunteer security lady was completely awesome. She kept yelling, "lost driver's license everyone look down! Everybody look down!" And everyone in the crowd did. They tried to help while they were also trying to rush to get through to grab a good spot. SO many people trying to be helpful and the volunteer security lady wasn't ready to give up until it was found.
Unfortunately, I never found it. But I did make it through the next security check point with my ticket and they let my friend show her ID to let us through.
Anyway, I'm a total idiot for losing it in the first place, but having nice strangers I didn't know go out of their way to help me find it (even though clearly it was a lost cause) is pretty telling about just great the night was.
I hate crowds but this was the best crowd ever. THANK YOU STRANGERS!
Also, if you see some 19 yr old trying to pass as an haggered lady, to get into the bars, that's my ID. Email me! It expires in a month anyway!
