This is my favorite thing in the whole world right now:
Yes, it’s me. No, I am not my favorite thing in the whole world right now. The picture is.
It was drawn by a friend I’ve talked to for months but never met.
This friend has never seen me, but they certainly have me pegged.
My favorite part is the tiara stomping. Although my inner princess would never allow this, I enjoy the sentiment.
I guess this friend thinks of me as Daria-esque.
Which is true inna way.
For ten years (literally) friends and complete strangers have been cornering me to say, “you know – you remind me of that one actress – what’s her name?”
For literally 10 years.
Me: “I dunno, who?”
“She’s a comedian…. She’s on that MTV half hour comedy hour … short … big mouth…”
It would happen over and over again.
After the “Truth About Cats & Dogs” & “Romey and Michelle’s High School Reunion” came out, such occurrences doubled.
Finally I realized they were talking about Janeane Garofalo
I’d go to pay the bill at a diner and the girl behind the register would ask, “how was everything? ”
Me: “great thanks”
Girl: “Oh my god, you totally remind me of that girl … that girl … you know … that girl?
Me: “I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Girl: “oh – you know – the one – the one who played the ugly friend in the Cats and Dogs thing”.
Me: “The ugly one? Thanks, I’m taking 2 mints just for that.”
Oh, I know she’s not ugly people. The girl’s at the diner may think so – but I think she is totally cool, of course.
But I am here to tell you, beyond the sarcasm, the shortness and the dark hair, I don’t see it.
Swear. I've always been short. I've always had a big mouth.
So, if you ever bump into me sometime – and you say – “you know, you remind me of …”
I’ll just cut you off and say “Madeline Albright –how dare you!”, then stomp off.
It’s nothing personal, it’s just kinda embarrassing. Actually, really embarrassing.
So, yeah, this picture is my favorite thing in the world right now ‘cause it’s just too funny. I wear turtlenecks and tights. I do.
Well. I hafta go now. Have a nice weekend.
p.s. I want to make this picture a permanent part of my lay out ... and if I could ever figure out the gd HTML, I just might.
