I remember winning one of those tacky-ass rock mirrors at a carnival when I was a kid, only to have them pull the old bait-and-switch. Turns out that the only Iron Maiden mirror that they had was the one nailed to the wall for display purposes, so I had to settle for a Twisted Sister mirror. Even at the age of seven, I knew that was a step down.

Having spent a portion of my ride home blasting "Sister Havana"--that chord intro just DOES me--I am voting sharply on the side of Urge Overkill. Nuge. Hmph.

Ah, yes, the ubiquitous "this is how my mom must have felt" moment. I am sorry to say they become more and more commonplace now. And no, they don't get any easier to deal with. Which makes me wonder if my mom feels that way about them, too. Doh!

Got here via an intriguing link in one of my web stats pages. Urge Overkill? I remember those guys! About a million years ago I saw UO perform live at this Christmas thing called "Endfest" in Seattle. They were pretty outrageous and cocky, and it seemed like they were the Next Big Thing on the West Coast, too. It was an interesting holiday experience. Some girl hollered out "Marry me, Evan" at Evan Dando as he was doing some senstive acoustic guitar solo thing and they almost had to stop the show. Hope you're recovering nicely. By all means, watch out for that Gin. ;)

woohoo! thanks to the sunnflower, i have obtained the recipe for sloe gin fizz: "The recipe calls for mixing 1/3 Sloe gin, with 2/3 Sprite or 7-Up, and some ice in any old glass." i will try it, if you will; let the meme drinking begin. :) kd

Frozen Watermelon Margarita 2 1/2 cups seedless (or seeded) watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes, rind discarded before measuring. 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice 4 ounces tequila 2 ounces Cointreau or triple sec 1 1/2 cups ice Prep 1 Put cut watermelon in a plastic bag and place in freezer for a minimum of 2 hours. (If time does not permit this step, add a few extra ice cubes when blendingthe difference is not that significant.) 2 Stuff all ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth. Garnish rim of glass with a lime wheel or a watermelon wedge and serve immediately.

I finally clicked to you from 12%Beer, and I must say, your line about the carnies? How they're no longer fronting? Almost made me piss myself. I [heart] you.

Just clicked on the banner! UO rocks. In fact, I like Exit the Dragon better than their other records. Henhough!
